Author Talk with Dr. Kyla Sommers
February 29th, 6-7:30PM | Woodridge Library
Join GBIV, DCPL and Ra Amin Commissioner (SMD 5B04 ) for the first presentation in "Our Neighborhood" series.
This series will premiere with a talk by author, Kyla Sommers, about her book, When The Smoke Cleared: The 1968 Rebellions and the Unfinished Battle for Civil Rights in the Nation's Capital. We have planned a tremendous evening with refreshments, a book giveaway and a kicking 1968 soundtrack to help capture the mood and energy of DC on the evening and week that followed MLK Jr assassination. Dr. Sommers with be interviewed by our neighbor, Robert Malesky, former NPR Senior Producer of Weekend Edition. Registration is recommended so we know how much food to bring. GBIV members, please contact us ((202) 658-5958, programs@brooklandvillage.org) for support with transportation.
