Medications are often essential for keeping chronic medical conditions under control and treating acute problems. However, they can also cause harm, especially when taking multiple pills and supplements. Join Laura Worby, Family Nurse Practitioner, to learn about how to use medications effectively and safely as we age, reduce risks of interactions, avoid over- and under-dosing, and learn about the concept of deprescribing, or cutting back on medicines we may no longer need. We'll also talk about communicating with providers and pharmacists, and we'll look at tools to keep medicines organized, using pill boxes and reminders. We'll also talk about safe disposal of medications.
