About this event

Poetry ‹ Story Types ‹ Literary Hub
Join published poet and Brookland neighbor Melanie Weldon-Soiset for a poetry reading and writing opportunity related to our everyday spaces. Open to all levels of poetry experience (including none!), this event is for anyone who is curious to see our familiar places with fresh eyes. Melanie will share a couple of poems that powerfully highlight the wonder of the ordinary, and will guide participants in a writing activity to help us see the world immediately around us with new charm and perspective.

Participants should bring a pen/pencil and paper with them (and brainstorm ahead of time an "everyday place" near them that may serve as their muse during the writing activity), and will ideally finish this workshop with a brand-new
poem (or least an exciting first draft of one!).
