What is this?
Do animals have minds?
Are they conscious?
Do they think as we do?
This talk covers a brief history of how humans have thought about animal minds, and how our understanding of their mental lives is changing in the light of new scientific discoveries.
Animals use tools, solve problems, remember life events, and manipulate symbols to achieve their desires. What is it like to have a non-human mind? We will discuss philosophical and scientific approaches to animal consciousness.
This presentation will be led by Sara Waller, professor at George Washington University. Learn more about Sara
