Laura Lyster-Mensh, the Death Doula in Residence at Congressional Cemetery in Washington DC, collects obituaries. In this presentation, she explains why writing your own obituary is an act of love and can even be a lot of fun. And really, who doesn’t want “the last word?” Laura specializes in helping people accept, talk about, and plan for death. Obituary writing is both practical and meaningful: not a morbid chore. Laura shares tips on what information to include, why choosing the photograph is so important, and some cautionary tales for what not to do.
