Join us in a book talk with Jamila Minnicks. She is the author of Moonrise Over New Jessup and is a Brookland neighbor. This book launched the GBIV book group back in July 2024. Moonrise Over New Jessup follows Alice Young as she builds a life in an all-Black town in 1950s Alabama, navigating love, community, and the tensions between self-sufficiency and the broader civil rights movement.
